Let me give you a little history of our company. We are a General Contractor that has been in business over 60 years and do roughly 6-8 million dollars of commercial work a year. So this software is not just for the Residential Contractor. We purchased "Timberline" software over 10 years ago and have never got up and running on it. Went to training (3) times and had a support tech even come to the office for (3) days but I never felt comfortable using the software and went back to my old estimating software. This is without a doubt the best construction estimating software for the money I've found. I have been through every demo on the market, and worked with quite a few other systems. I had actually given up on finding anything out there that would allow me to estimate MY way, and planned to continue using my customized Excel spreadsheets, until I found Bid4Build.
I like the layout of the program, and the help documentation is outstanding. The most important features for me though are the flexibility of the program, and the direct importing and exporting from Excel. Since Excel is the program most used by estimators, this really helps get you up and running quickly.
As a professional estimator, I need a flexible program that will allow me to give each of my clients estimates and material lists in their company's format. Bid4Build does the job!
The National Estimator pricing is also very helpful. I used to buy the yearly updates from Craftsman, and then spend the time inputting the pricing I needed into Excel. Being able to pull the pricing directly into Bid4Build is a huge timesaver.
Finally, the support is outstanding. I've made quite a few requests for additional features to be added to the program, and they have been....quickly! Try getting another company to do THAT!

Prior to purchasing Bid4Build Estimating software I had been using one of those $4,000 programs for estimating. I made the change because I became tired of the expensive updates every 6 months and all the updates amounted to was more bells and whistles that are really of no significance when it comes down to estimating quickly and accurately.
When I first visited the Bid4Build website and began reading about all the amenities, I said to myself, well, I can imagine what they are going to ask for this program. I was amazed at the cost of the program, I immediately ordered and this has been one of the best investments I have made for the productivity of my Company for sometime. It contains many & possibly more of the features found in much more expensive programs, for example, Seamless Importing/Exporting of database to MS Excel, anyone using estimating software can tell you the benefits of this amenity. Assembly capabilities, this is what speeds up estimating time considerably. Awesome report capabilities, for customer as well as in house.
And last but very well the most important of all attributes is the Customer - Tech support you receive from this company. It is by far the best I have seen up to this point, they are available when you need help and stay with you until the problem is solved. If you want the most bang for your bucks this is the software you need.

I can say with out a doubt that purchasing the Bid4Buid program was one of the wisest decisions we have made. This program has made my life a lot easier. Aside from the obvious reasons of the easabilty of the estimating, I now can track a job from the first initial bid day to the final payment from one location on my computer.

And the customer support, well how many companies do you know that you can call your rep. on his cell phone while he is on vacation. Phase/Area Screens & Wizards
The Phase and Area sections of Version 3.0 have been completely rebuilt and now use Wizard driven screens to create the Phase and Area Information. In addition, you can now define a Primary Area with up to 10 associated Offsets to insure accurate calculations of SF and LF dimensions. Virtual Common Walls, Interior, and Exterior Offsets can now be defined and used in your estimates.
Contract Writer
New in Version 3.0 is the Bid4Build Contract Writer. The Contract Writer is a versatile program addition which enables you to build report, contract and letter templates. You can use fields from the Customer, Project, Company and Estimate databases in a mail-merge format directly in the template. There is also a Phrase Library database which can be used to store various sections of information such as Terms, Warranties, Inclusions, Allowances, etc. These Phrases can then be quickly incorporated into the Contract Writer Templates.
Tax Management System
The Tax component of the Bid4Build System has been expanded in Version 3.0 to include a Tax Management & Compliance System. This can be used to manage detailed tax information. This is particularly useful for Canadian users to track the cumulative Federal and Provincial tax requirements in Canada.
Search Features
The Search features for Version 3.0 have been enhanced, and new ones added to perform complex searches across Customer, Project and Item Costbook information. The Search screen for the Item Costbook is an example of the enhancements. Multiple levels of descriptive search values can now be used in combination to quickly located required items.
Crew Composition
The Crew Composition module has been enhanced to include customization of the Craftsman Crew Compositions, or the option to create your own Crew Compositions. A new feature added is the ability to change a Crew Composition based upon a single item, then have this change applied globally to all items using the same Crew Composition.
Transfer Assemblies
Assemblies can now be defined and easily transferred into any Item Costbook (as well as imported and exported to Excel). Costbook database items can now be maintained in one location, (directly in the Item Costbook); then synchronized with the Assembly database, updating any associated items; then transferred back into the Item Costbook in the form of an Assembly. The example shows an average grade Kitchen Assembly which is co-located in the Item Costbook and uses Costbook Items across multiple categories.
Estimate Maintenance
The Estimate, Assembly and Item Costbook Maintenance screens have all been significantly rebuilt with new functions and features. The Estimate Maintenance screen now has the ability to control the report output flow of an estimate by defining the order and sequence of Phase, Areas, Category and Item information.
Estimate Reports
Version 3.0 includes numerous enhancements and additions to the reports available in version 2.3. New reporting controls have also been created for estimate-based reports.
Wizards
Existing Wizards have been enhanced and new ones added for Version 3.0. The usability and user-friendly attributes of the program have been greatly increased.
Construction Image Library
A new Construction Image Library is being developed which includes pictures and diagrams of construction items from the Craftsman National General Construction database. You also have the ability to add or edit your own images.
